Freddy Football Championship Kicks Off in Grand Style

The maiden edition of the Freddy Football Championship organized by a group of young football enthusiasts headed by Mr. Mayowa (Freddy) kicked off in style yesterday Friday 26th January 2024.

In a noticed to Trendyngr, Teams were grouped into four groups A-D.

Group A started with a lot of firepower that saw Dynamite FC, Itori losing to Eruku FC by a lone goal in the opening match witnessed by a mammoth crowd at Itori Comprehensive High School, Agbon, Itori.

Chosen Generation Football Club also defeated Ewekoro UTD FC a very young side by 4 goals to nil.

The tournament continues today at United Comprehensive High School Field, Wasimi where other teams will taste actions. Two fields have been earmarked to host the matches as stated above.

The opening ceremony had several stakeholders and dignitaries gracing the occasion. Coach Kolawole Ogunleye, Chairman of the Ewekoro Football Council, Coach Victor Agbagu, the 2nd Vice-Chairman, Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Ogun state chapter and Leader, NFCA Ewekoro along with Coach Olutoye Israel Olupitan (Secretary, NFCA Ewekoro) along with other members of the Coaches Association, Football Fraternities and other men and women of high repute.

The championship targets the youth in the Ewekoro community and beyond by providing a platform where they can showcase their talents and expose them to scouts from well-organized teams that ply their trade in Nigeria Leagues to recruit. It is also directed at reducing social vices in the communities brought about by non-positive engagements of the youths.

The event is a 3-week program that will end in February 2024
